FWAG South East Cluster Groups

Southern Streams Farmer Group

Southern Streams is a Farmer Cluster group of 28 farmers who look after 25,000 acres of land.

The group aim to work together to accomplish landscape scale results, especially for the Rivers Dun, Shall and Kennet, to which the land drains too. The area also includes chalk downland and ancient woodland.

Priorities of the group are:

  • Protecting water quality, especially in chalk streams
  • Healthy soils for water storage, carbon capture and fertility
  • Biodiversity and woodland management
  • Communicating their message with the local community

This will be through creating, maintaining and enhancing habitats, adopting regenerative soil practices, monitoring wildlife species and implementing water quality projects (such as creating sediment ponds).

Training days have included butterflies, birds, worms and waterways.
