Belinda Bown
Senior Farm Environment Adviser
Belinda grew up on a family farm and has an Environmental Science BSc degree, focussing on soil health and farmland habitats as a part of her final year dissertation. She began her career with the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust; collecting research data on arable invertebrates, plants, bats and birds on agri-environment scheme options. Following this she advised National Trust rangers and farming tenants to promote nature-friendly farming practices.
At FWAG South East, Belinda works across the region developing agri-environment schemes, undertaking collaborative projects and facilitating two farmer groups; Southern Streams Farmers Group and Candover Valley Farmers. Successful grant applications have resulted in projects encompassing chalk grassland restoration, management plans and landscape mapping. Independent on-farm advice includes all aspects of government-funded schemes such as applications, review visits, DEFRA communication, amendments and claims. She has worked across diverse farming systems on large and small-scale farms. Belinda is BASIS-qualified for Conservation Management and Soil & Water.
