North Downs Farmer Group
The group covers over 2,250 ha along the Surrey Hills, including 473ha of SSSI sites designated mainly for chalk grassland, wood and several priority species.
Priorities for the group are:
- Extension of chalk grassland habitats
- Managing wood pasture and parkland
- Encouraging the management of arable flora habitats
- Improving habitat connectivity across the landscape through the hedgerow and field margin network
- Increasing numbers of scare or historic species, such as the turtle dove, corn bunting and Duke of Burgundy butterfly
- Mapping pollinator habitat quality.
